After a tough season for the Oak Park girls’ soccer, the team still has plenty to celebrate.

Seniors Hannah Adler, Jordyn Bradbury, Julia Gilliam and Sarah Howard officially signed and committed to playing collegiate soccer Feb. 3.

Adler will attend University of Denver, Bradbury will attend Chapman University, Gilliam will attend Indiana University and Howard will attend Lewis and Clark College.

“It has always been my dream to play in soccer in college,” Gilliam said, “especially in a major conference like the Big Ten.”

During their early years of high school, the girls were scouted and approached by many coaches from different elite universities. However, only one school stood out to each of them.

“I first met my coach when I was a sophomore and he has played a big role in helping me with the administration process,” Howard said.

According to Adler, her new “coaches and team [are] so welcoming and family- orientated.”

Bradbury based her decision on how flexible Chapman’s athletics are with their students.

“I wanted to play the sport I love, but at the same time be able to experience other things that college has to offer, like studying aboard,” Bradbury said.

According to Adler, being a member of the girls’ soccer team helped her learn valuable lessons.

“It taught [us] the values of being a teammate and to continue to work hard, but also have fun while doing it,” Adler said.

Junior Ally Spooner said she was happy for her four teammates.

“[Our team] has had the lucky opportunity to watch them become amazing players,” Spooner said, “and it has been an honor to be a part of their journeys toward their next chapter of soccer.”
