The Oak Park Girls’ Golf team finished their 2021 season with a record of 11-0 and winning the Coastal Canyon league. After winning the Coastal Canyon league, the Eagles went on to play in the CIF D1 team championships.

With frequent success in previous years, Coach Donn James sets high expectations for his golfers, but also understands that every team is different and adapts his coaching philosophy accordingly.

“As their coach, I’m very happy for them and the school, but since we were undefeated last year, they expected a lot from themselves and it was a pleasure to see them shine again this year,” head coach Donn James said.

The Girls’ Golf team’s achievements and accomplishments are significant and lengthy.

“I feel as if the team has achieved a great feat. Although we are overshadowed by other sports during our season, it is still a wonderful feeling to have been a part of something seemingly small yet very mighty,”  junior Jordan Yost said.

The team is simply happy to be around each other again, after practicing social distancing in a year filled with COVID-19 protocols. The team chemistry benefited from a step towards normalcy, and the team has savored the time they have been able to spend together.

“After not being able to see each other often last season due to COVID, we’ve been able to enjoy the team dinners and practices we have together,” senior varsity captain Charissa Shang
