Senior Tim Baldwin has been playing volleyball since he was in the eighth grade. Baldwin plans to attend Brigham Young University in the fall on a volleyball scholarship. When he’s not playing volleyball, he can be found camping, backpacking, and spearfishing.

Q: What inspired you to start playing volleyball?

A: I started playing because these cute girls said that volleyball boys were hot.

Q: What is your favorite volleyball position to play?

A: My favorite position is libero, which is the defensive specialist. I think that playing defense is the most fun part of volleyball.

Q: How does having early morning seminary impact your daily school life?

A: Early morning seminary impacts me by making me think ahead in the morning and leaving me super sleep deprived.

Q: Did you consider any other schools besides BYU?

A: I received offers from CSULB and UCLA, so naturally I considered these options too, but I ultimately landed on BYU.

Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Newbury Park, roaming the creeks and backwoods, catching crawfish, and fishing for bass.

Q: Do you have a nickname?

A: They call me “The Bouncelord.” When you bounce a volleyball, you hit the ball straight down so that it bounces up and hits the ceiling. I’ve mastered this skill so people started calling me “The Bouncelord.”

Q: If you were a cookie, what kind of cookie would you be and why?

A: I would be a white chocolate macadamia nut cookie because people would only like to eat me occasionally.

Q: 70s disco or 80s pop?

A: 70s disco! My favorite song is “Freaky Dancin” by Cameo. I strongly suggest that you check it out.

Q: Is water wet?

A: Wouldn’t know, I don’t drink.

Q: What are some of your goals for the future?

A: My goals are to one day play in the Olympics and to be the first person to mine an asteroid for its platinum ores.

Q: What are some goals that you have previously accomplished?

A: I won a national volleyball championship when I was a sophomore.

Q: Do you have any advice when it comes to raising your grades?

A: If you need to raise your grades, you have to get down to business to defeat the Huns.
