Senior Jake Iazzetta is the newest addition to Oak Park High School’s Varsity Football team, replacing alumna Courtney Ahdoot as the starting kicker. Without any high school football experience, Iazzetta said he relies on his extensive background in soccer to help him convert field goals and extra points for the team. Like Ahdoot, Iazzetta has participated in the Oak Park soccer program since his freshman year, along with recreational and club teams. Iazzetta suffered a broken neck due to a car accident last year and missed half of the soccer season. Jake was promised a place on varsity before his injury, but he was demoted to the junior varsity team due to a full roster on varsity. Iazzetta went on to become one of the top scorers and assists on junior varsity, and led the team to a league championship, the first in the boys’ soccer program in years.
