Proposition 64: Marijuana legalization

October 27, 2016

Proposition 64 legalizes marijuana use for individuals over the age of 21, establishes state taxes on sale and cultivation and establishes standards for marijuana products. Smoking, under Proposition 64, would be permitted in private homes and businesses licensed for on-site marijuana consumption. It would, however, remain illegal when driving, in all public areas, and anywhere smoking tobacco is banned. Any possession on the grounds of schools, daycares and youth centers will remain illegal.
