The first rally of the 2021/2022 school year will be held on Friday, Sept. 24 outside on the football field due to current COVID-19 restrictions. However, there will be a few changes regarding the schedule.

Instead of the regular 1-3-5 schedule, students will be attending a shortened 3rd period class first. The rally is set to take place from 9:50 a.m. to 10:35 a.m., with shortened 1st and 5th period classes set to follow.

“The schedule was changed to benefit the students. We know that when it gets closer to noon, it can get really hot out there. We want to have the best rally possible, in the best conditions possible,” junior class president Jared Cornick wrote to the Talon.

The idea was constructed by ASB president Amaan Nabeel and ASB vice president Shea Creason, both seniors. The updated schedule also allows ASB to better prepare the field for the upcoming event.

“ASB is [at] 3rd period so we wanted to switch it so that way, we could still have time to set up the football field,” Nabeel wrote to the Talon.

This schedule change will be sent out to students through various ways, ensuring that every student is notified of the rally schedule. A ParentSquare message was sent out Tuesday evening about the schedule change.

“Students will be informed through Social Media and their teachers,” Nabeel wrote to the Talon.

Even though the rally will be held in a different environment, it will still have the same atmosphere of school spirit.

“I think it’s important to know that we will still be having areas designated for each grade. We will be still having the same fun games and performances like we always do but just outside,” Nabeel wrote.
