Oak Park Boys’ Basketball sweeps Agoura

Oak Park hoops dominates cross-town rival in first home game

On Tuesday night, Oak Park frosh-soph, junior varsity and varsity basketball teams swept rival Agoura High School in the first home game of the season.

Frosh-soph basketball won with a score of 58-36. Junior-varsity basketball won in another rout by a score of 47-32. Varsity basketball secured a 48-33 victory.

Varsity was led by junior Isaiah Sherrard with 20 points, eight rebounds and one block.

Throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarter, Oak Park went on a 33-8 run, securing a comfortable lead.

“Even without Seshsha, we were able to get the job done,” senior Justice Nobert, who plays forward, said. “It was a great team win.”

The birdcage was packed with an energetic student section, given this was the first home game with a student audience for basketball since prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The student section got loud when senior Jordan Yaffe elevated for a big dunk over an Agoura defender (see below).

“It felt good to be back in the student section again. We were all going crazy for Jordan’s dunk,” senior Noah Teichner said.

The next two home games are scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 16 against Kennedy and Friday, Dec. 17 against El Camino Real.
