April Athletes of the Week
Swim, golf and lacrosse dominate spring sports into the playoff season
Week of April 17
Madison Tran, Varsity Girls Swim
According to Tran’s coach, “Madie consistently crushes her races, like winning her individual races this week in the 200 IM and the 100 fly. She’s qualified for CIF in those events as well as brought 3 of our girl’s relay teams to qualification times, too. As a senior on the team, Madie is a guide for other swimmers in technique and attitude. She is a pleasure to have on the team!”
Elliot Drottar, Varsity Boys Swim
“As a freshman, Elliott is making a name for himself as a top swimmer in the area,” Drottar’s coach said. “He is a well-rounded swimmer who can compete against the best in the league. This past meet, Elliott got 1st in the 200 IM and 2nd in the 500 free. His swims on two varsity relays ensured that OP got 2nd place in each of the relays. Elliott takes a competitive challenge and races till the end. Even when he doesn’t win or get a best-time, Elliott is resilient against challenges and looks ahead to the next great swim.”
Week of April 24
Chloe Gibbs, Varsity Girls Lacrosse
“Chloe had a huge impact on every part of the field in our 10-8 win to keep our undefeated record intact. Chloe scored 6 goals, was our best defender, was dominant on the Draw Circle and played a huge role in our transition game. Chloe had a truly dominant performance worthy of recognition!” Coach Ross Tabor said.
Alex Cheng, Varsity Boys Golf
“Alex is our #1 and has played every match this year with scores in the 70’s, averaging under 75 for the season. He has been the medalist in 4 of the 8 league matches to date and currently sits T4 after one round of league finals,” Coach Donn James said.
