The support for the Eagles was immeasurable. With the crowd’s shouts reverberating throughout the field, the marching band booming and the cheer team raising everyone’s spirits, the Eagles had their first home game win of the season on Aug. 18.
Junior varsity had a tough game, losing to Buena High School 16-48. Soon after, when varsity battled against Buena, the Eagles made it even with a final score of 27-13. Not only does this win pave the way for a great season, it also demonstrates the team’s strength and effort.
“A lot of hours [went into preparing for the game], a lot of hours that people don’t realize, just prepping the kids, watching a lot of film, late nights, setting up the field,” head football coach Casey Webb said. “There’s so much that goes into a game that people don’t realize.”
After an eventful night, the Eagles are now prepared to go break records for all the games to come.
“Expect a win from us every week,” varsity wide receiver Hunter Storey said after the team’s triumph.
The Eagles’ hard work has paid off, with their expectations being met all the way.
“I love it, it’s great to win…I think we played really well, it’s the first game of the year, we don’t know how it’s going to go, but I’m really excited about how they did,” Webb said.
The players on the field hold the same attitude as their coach.
“Feels good, you know, good to be back out here with my boys, winning is always good,” varsity quarterback Johnny Fulmer said.
Jagger Scallion, another varsity quarterback on the team, was also confident in their performance.
“It was a great win…everyone played really well,” Scallion said.
The Eagles’ first away game will be Aug. 25 against Calabasas High School. Their upcoming home game will be Sep. 8, against Brentwood High School.
The Eagles tonight have shown that with dedication and hard work, they make worthwhile outcomes. Go Eagles!
