While the transition back to school marks the start of football season, the games would be incomplete without the combined halftime performances from color guard and marching band.
During the halftime show of the Eagles’ 27-13 victory over the Buena Bulldogs, both marching band and color guard took to the field for their first performances of the season.
As a captain, senior Johnathon Manley enjoys performing in front of a crowd. He has high expectations for this season and is ready to step into his new role.
“[My favorite part is] the ability to perform on such a massive scale with so many people,” Manley wrote. “I’m most looking forward to the competitions and football games where we get to wear our uniforms.”
While crowd favorites such as “Bad Romance,” “YMCA” and “Sweet Caroline” will continue to play during events, there are plenty of differences compared to last season.
“There are a ton of changes,” Manley wrote. “All the seniors graduated and now it’s up to my peers and I to fill that role.”
The OPHS color guard and Eagle Brigade will continue to perform at upcoming games, events and competitions. The next opportunity to watch both groups live is the upcoming home football game on Sep. 8.
