Though it’s still very early in the school year, Girls’ tennis is already setting a promising tone. Head coach Adam Nielson believes his team has what it takes to serve success into the season.
“You know I feel good,” Nielson said. “Good about our team and our prospects for the season.”
His feeling seems to hold true so far. The team added another win to their season on Sept. 7, beating Agoura in a home game. The victory was resounding, Oak Park winning 12 out of the 18 matches they played.
Even though they came out on top, it was still a challenging game for them.
“It was a tough match and everyone tried their hardest,” player Michelle Teaca said. “Our group effort was able to win us the game and we had fun so that’s what really matters.”
Nielson agreed with Teaca’s sentiment, noting that the team’s camaraderie is one of its biggest strengths.
“I think one of the best things about our team is the camaraderie,” Nielson said. “It helps us pick each other up when we fall and keeps our spirits up even after tough matches.”
The team’s synergy, hardwork and skill is clearly paying off. Oak Park can expect more thrilling matches from them for the rest of the year, one of them being on Sept. 12 where they will face Foothill Technology.
