Oak Park High School’s wind symphony and concert band are playing a wide variety of holiday tunes on Wednesday, Dec. 6. Located in the pavilion from 7 to 9 p.m. there will be bakery items available for purchase and cheerful songs to fill the night.
“The Concert Band will be playing three different holiday tunes,” music director Zachery Borquez said. “Then we will be doing a piece called ‘Chant and Tribal Dance,’ and then a combined piece with the Wind Symphony, ‘The Great Locomotive Chase.’”
The Wind Symphony will also play multiple unique pieces.
“Wind Symphony will be playing a medley of Christmas tunes in a waltz form, and they will be playing a Christmas tune set in Mariachi style,” Borquez said. “They will also be playing pieces called ‘Into the Clouds’ and ‘Among the Clouds’.”
Students have been working for two months to create a magical experience for their friends and family, excited to bring their holiday spirit to the stage.
Overall, students from all around campus look forward to cheering on their friends and listening to festive music.
“We always look forward to concerts, we gear up to perform, and it’s very rewarding to see the work you’ve put in come to life on stage,” Borquez said. “It’s just a lot of positive energy on concert nights.”
