The Athletic Booster Club held its sports tailgate party on Sep. 19. The tailgate featured food, music, games and a performance from the marching band. Students and families showed up to support the fall sports teams and spend time together.
“We made a bunch of our own food and just had a little cookout in the back of our friend’s car,” junior Dani Bojorquez said. “We’re having a lot of fun, playing card games and things like that.”
There was a large student turnout at the event, especially from the fall sports teams.
“I believe the turnout of not only supporters, but representatives from the fall sports team was great,” sophomore Maddy Chang said. “There was a galore of teams like football, cheer, dance, flag football, volleyball and the tailgate party was closed by a performance from the band.”
The tailgate was intended to foster community spirit in the heat of fall sports season.
“We really just wanted to bring the Oak Park community… It’s been a really positive experience,” ABC Vice President Brianna Adams said. “We really appreciate the efforts of the team that put this together. We wanted to make a fun event for everyone and hopefully increase school spirit.”
