Welcome to the fourth volume of The End Zone Report, where I delve into everything football. In today’s report, let’s discuss the Dallas Cowboys, Anthony Richardson and Daniel Jones.
To start off, how ‘bout them Cowboys? America’s team isn’t really living up to expectations. After quarterback Dak Prescott’s season ending injury, the team has been starting Cooper Rush. To put things into context, Rush has been on the Dallas Cowboys since 2017, serving only as a backup quarterback during his extended tenure. It is clear that the 3-7 Cowboys have a cooked season at this point, so what can they do to make the best of it?
The first thing the Cowboys should do is start Trey Lance. The former number three overall pick was drafted with high expectations yet never really lived up to them. At least that’s what people think happened. In reality, Lance went down with a gruesome injury and bounced around the league looking for a place to start fresh. Dallas could just as well be that place. The team needs to understand that their season is over, and it would benefit them more to develop a young star like Lance over a veteran like Rush.
Along with starting Lance, the Cowboys should rest some of their star players. Players like Micah Parsons and Demarcus Lawrence have already missed most of the season, so there isn’t a point in playing them now. While they could get a chance to pad their stats, it does the team much more of a service if they are healthy and rested for next season.
The next order of business to cover is young quarterback Anthony Richardson. After losing his starting job on the Colts to veteran Joe Flacco, Richardson took the opportunity to sit and learn. It showed in a massive way when he led the team to a 28-27 victory over the Jets. Richardson had his best game of the season after a massively inconsistent start. Here’s to a great future for a star quarterback.
The final thing we need to talk about in today’s segment is Daniel Jones. Rather, the downfall of Jones. Firstly, the Giants gave him a 160 million dollar bag after one good season and he’s never been good since. The Giants are benching him for fan-favorite Tommy DeVito and giving him a chance. The fact of the matter is, that isn’t enough. The Giants are going to need to find a long-term option in the draft. Whether it be Shedeur Sanders, Cam Ward or Carson Beck, the Giants need to start scouting now.
This wraps up the fourth volume of The End Zone Report. Keep a look out for the next one.
