The Oak Park High School boys tennis team is ready to take on yet another season of excitement. With a strong batch of players, the Eagles have big plans going forward.
“I think we’re going to go undefeated and win league,” junior Joshua Ma wrote to the Talon. “We can go far in CIF and maybe even win it.”
With over 15 wins from last season, the OPHS boys tennis team is determined to hone in on their team spirit and work together to reach new heights.
“Our team is really close and we all have really good camaraderie,” Ma wrote. “Everyone’s friends with each other.”
As the 2024-2025 season brings in new players, there are several players who seem to stand out amongst the rest.
“Levi Jefferson is a freshman that stands out,” senior Austin Lamy wrote. “Levi is over 6 foot and has a good serve that wins him a lot of points. He is starting singles at the 3 position and is getting us crucial wins so far. He is a fighter on the court and super fun to be around off the court”.
The team has also benefited from perseverance and confidence, and they hope to emphasize these traits to help them maintain their winning streak.
“I want to give a shout-out to Kai Parsavand as his presence is a driving factor for our team’s success,” Ma wrote.
The OPHS boys tennis team is beyond ready to take on all the matches they have in front of them and have their eyes set on winning more than last year. With a set of amazing new players, intense motivation and heartfelt goals, the Eagles know this will be a season unlike any other.
“This isn’t going to be any original season. We have a great and strong starting line up that can compete at a[t] top level. I am very hopeful and looking forward to CIF this year and bringing the trophy home,” Lamy wrote. “I also hope to see more people come out to the home games and watch because there are some quality matches being played.”
Their next home match will be on March 4 at Oak Park against Newbury Park. Come watch and support your fellow Eagles.
