Starting the season off strong, Oak Park High School girls softball has been working together to push as a team and improve. Casey Preston is new to OPHS and has goals for the team to succeed.
“Our goal as a program is to develop the girls in every facet of the game,” Preston said. “We are changing the softball culture at Oak Park and working hard daily to not only improve, but compete at a high level.”
With a new coach, the program has a new start and the program is growing with hopes of improvement and more experiences.
“New coaches, uniforms, schedule, culture and more. We will implement an off-season program, more local non-season scrimmages, more in-season games and more,” Preston said.
Preston has had nine years of coaching experiences with all levels ranging from recreational to high-level travel club softball and college coaching.
The experience Preston has had so far has been great and has been enjoying the experience with the girls in the program.
“It has been fantastic so far. The girls are very talented players and even better people. We are having a lot of fun and getting better every day,” Preston said.
So far this season the girls have had 3 games and are playing higher-ranked schools to gain experience and show the talent the girls have.
“We have a tough schedule as we are looking to set a tone in the area and show teams that we are for real,” Preston said. “We are having a ton of fun too.”
