Since the start of the 2025-26 season, Oak Park High School’s boys beach volleyball team has been attending weekly tournaments. This year, volleyball games are no longer held at Will Rogers State Beach, so varsity and JV players have to compete separately at Harbor Cove Beach and Zuma Beach.
The team size was nearly halved from what it was last year to streamline practices and tournaments. This adjustment has allowed the players to work more closely together and improve their teamwork.

“I like playing with all the older guys and being more tight than last year,” junior and varsity player Victor Yang said.
Both varsity and JV compete at tournaments as Division I teams. Currently, varsity holds a 7-4 record, while JV is 11-1, indicating a strong start for both teams this season.
“We’re one of the top schools in the league right now, and we could definitely medal if we try to,” Yang said.
The final tournament of the season, the Marmonte Beach League Championship, is coming up on Saturday, Sept. 27. The OPHS boys beach volleyball team is gearing up for the competition.
“My team and I are starting to prepare for it by continuing to train hard in practice and learning better ways to play offensively,” sophomore and JV player Jerry Chang said.
The championship will give players the chance to advance to the playoffs and compete against 39 other teams for medals.
“In the previous year, our team went undefeated and won the championship, so hopefully we can repeat that process again this year,” Chang said.
