Justin Bindelglass, a sophomore at Oak Park High School, was named Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 29. Consistently working hard to become a better athlete, Bindelglass shares his experience on the football field.
“This week I am most proud of my team getting the win against Del Sol,” Bindelglass said. “For my personal achievement, I am most proud of my interception at the start of the game, and how I played. Honestly I am very proud of my team and how we grew.”
Through his freshman and sophomore season of football, Bindelglass has grown a lot.
“The biggest challenge I faced as an athlete was probably my confidence,” Bindelglass said. “At the start of freshman year, I was not a very confident football player. Over the season, I have been trying to work on becoming more confident at my game and working out and going to the field more.”
Bindelglass noted that the effort he has put into football has not gone to waste.
“Everything I have been doing has really helped me become a better athlete,” Bindelglass said. “I’ve become a more rounded athlete as well, and the same goes for our team.”
Bindelglass credits a lot of his success to his teammates and especially his coaches for pushing him to become a better athlete.
“Overall, my team has been super amazing through this whole process,” Bindelglass said. “My coaches, Coach Nick and Charlie, have been helping us and pushing us a bunch. They always help us outside of football in our personal lives and always check up on us.”
Bindelglass’s spirit has not diminished, even though he is injured and unable to play for the next eight to ten weeks.
“I am injured currently, my elbow is fractured, so my goal right now is to have a fast and safe recovery and quickly get back on the field and be 100% when I come back,” Bindelglass said.
However, while he is out, he wants to focus on other aspects of his life, such as his grades and extracurricular activities.
“I also want to get my grades better since right now I am out, and spend more time with my friends, ” Bindelglass said.
With the support of his teammates and coaches, Bindelglass continues to make a big impact on the field.
