Flag football is almost all the way through their season and hoping to reach the playoffs. This year, the team welcomed new Head coach Casey Preston and returning assistant coach Jeff Wong.
“Having a new coach definitely changes the team’s chemistry, but not negatively,” sophomore Hadiah Haidari said. “This year, JV
and varsity practice together so I think that helps us create a stronger team dynamic and I love how both JV and varsity can learn from each other so we can all improve”.
This season the coaching staff has been defining their expectations and exposing their team to more games so that they get as much experience as possible. So far they have won five games. This can be attributed to the team’s hard work and dedication.
“Our team started fast and had some early success and then played some very tough non-league opponents but weathered the storm,” head coach Casey Preston said. “We have improved a lot in all facets of the game, but definitely have room for improvement.”
According to senior Lia Langschultz, their team’s ability to push through can be defined by one game specifically.
“Newbury Park was a very defining game for our team. We were down the whole game and came back in the fourth quarter with an extra point win,” said Langschultz. “It was such a highlight of the season because that’s probably the hardest we’ve played and it paid off.”

This team isn’t done. As the season winds to an end, they are hard at work to make the playoffs.
“The goal for the remaining season is to make the playoffs and then make a run in the playoffs and see how we do,” sophomore Maddie Scupine said. “We have to continue to do good in the league to make this happen though.”
Be sure to support the girls flag football final game of the season on October 14, at moorpark.
“If we win we will have a play-in game to get into the playoffs”, said Haidari. “ This game is our only chance to keep playing our favorite sport all together as a team just a little longer.”
