Harrison Macht, Bridger Weir and Athena Trewyn were chosen as the athletes of the week for the week of Oct. 13.

Harrison Macht has played on the Oak Park High School Football team for four years. However, his football journey started far before that.
“I play wide receiver and cornerback,” Macht said. “I’ve been playing football my whole life.”
Macht put up video game numbers in OPHS’s 26-14 win against Oxnard.
“I think what led me to be the athlete of the week was that I went 6/6 for 158 yards,” Macht said. “Our quarterback Grayson Auzat threw me great passes all night.”
The football team is still in the hunt for the playoffs. That remains Macht’s primary goal, yet he took time to reminisce on his favorite memory with the team. As a four year player, there were a lot of options to choose from.
“My favorite memory, that’s a tough one,” Macht said. “I’d say it’s when we beat Camarillo in the first round of the playoffs last year on a scoop and score touchdown.”

Varsity girls volleyball player Athena Trewyn also won athlete of the week. She plays middle blocker but has been a versatile player, playing 3 positions during her time at OPHS.
“I think winning athlete of the week came from my own consistency,” Trewyn said. “I’ve been working on pressing on my block, being coachable and bringing energy no matter what the score is.”
Trewyn and the team won their last home game against Royal with a score of three to two.
“This week everything kind of came together and I felt confident,” Trewyn said. “I connected with my teammates and pushed myself to play fearlessly.”
Trewyn is excited to compete in CIF with her teammates.
“Bringing home a major title for our school would be unforgettable, including a moment and a ring I’d cherish forever,” Trewyn said.

The final athlete of the week was Bridger Weir. He plays linebacker and running back.
“I think I won athlete of the week due to my consistent play,” Weir said. “I played well but there were still small things I could have done better.”
Weir and the rest of the team are looking forward to making a run towards the playoffs. Come check out all of these athletes as they look to make a run towards CIF or begin CIF play!
