Casey Webb, the new head football coach, was born and raised in Oak Park.

Prior to working at the high school, Webb worked at Medea Creek Middle School for several years.

“[Growing up] I hated the concept of being in a desk job, so teaching I always thought would be a great option, and that’s kind of why I fell into line,” Webb said.

Webb has played football since he was in high school (he was a tight end), but football was not the only activity that he pusued.

“I loved to go to the gym and play basketball. That’s probably one of my biggest hobbies,” Webb said. “I like to go to movies, and if I’m ever by myself sometimes [I] just veg out and play video games.”

Webb said he once even played video games professionally.

“After football practice [in high school] on Saturdays we’d get a group of friends and we’d all play Madden. When I was a junior in high school, I won a tournament that had 5,000 people in it, and I got a free trip to Jamaica. I ended up just playing Madden professionally for a year or two,” Webb said.

In addition to playing football both physically and virtually, he is also a fan of watching the sport.

“I love college football,” Webb said. “San Diego State [is my favorite]; that’s where I went.”

Webb graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in communications.

“I always liked public speaking. I like talking to people. I like talking in front of people, and I didn’t know what I wanted to do at the time, and it kind of was just the easiest degree to get A’s in, so I did that,” Webb said.

Although he enjoyed communications, Webb said his true passion is football.

“I love football because of the lessons you learn. The hard work and the bonding with your teammates,” Webb said. “Times aren’t easy, just like in football, but you learn to get through it with people that support you, and I just love the life lessons that are taught because of football.”
