Happy Monday, Oak Park. Here’s what you need to know to wrap up your weekend and begin your week:
Last Week: Winter sports continue
Girls’ varsity soccer played against Mission Prep and Camino Real Saturday, Dec. 10. They beat Mission Prep 4-1 and lost to Camino Real 4-0.
Girls’ basketball played Calabasas and won 49-45 Saturday, Dec. 10. They played Dos Pueblos Thursday, Dec. 8 and lost 27-70. They beat Thacher 53-39 Thursday, Dec. 8.
Boys’ varsity basketball beat Westlake Wednesday, Dec. 8. They won 71-51. They played San Gabriel Academy Thursday, Dec. 8 and won 84-55. On Friday, Dec. 9, they lost to Sierra Canyon 57-81. On Saturday, Dec. 10, they lost to La Canada 68-82.
Boys’ varsity soccer beat Malibu 3-1 Friday, Dec. 9. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, they lost to Santa Paula 0-2.
This Week: Girls’ and boys’ basketball
Boys’ basketball has an away game against Agoura Monday, Dec. 12. Frosh-soph will play at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
Girls’ basketball has a home game against Westlake Monday, Dec. 12. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m. They have an away game Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Viewpoint. Junior varsity will not play, and varsity will play at 5 p.m.
On Monday, Dec. 12 boys’ soccer has an away game against Chaminade. Frosh-soph will play at 6 p.m., junior varsity at 3:30 p.m. and varsity at 5 p.m. They will also play Calabasas away on Friday, Dec. 16. Frosh-soph will play at 3 p.m., junior varsity at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 6:15 p.m.
Next Week: Finals and basketball
Boys’ basketball has an away game Thursday, Dec. 22 against Ventura. Frosh-soph will play at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.
Girls’ basketball will play in the El Camino Tournament from Monday, Dec. 19 to Wednesday, Dec. 21. Times will be announced closer to the games.
On Thursday, Dec. 22, girls’ varsity soccer will play an away game at Sierra Canyon at 2:30 p.m.
Finals are next week on Tuesday, Dec. 20, Wednesday, Dec. 21 and Thursday, Dec. 22.
Beyond Oak Park: Bomb kills 25 in Egyptian Church
A bomb exploded inside the St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in Cairo, Egypt yesterday, Dec. 11, killing 25 people and injuring 49. The explosion took place less than two days after a bomb killed six police officers near Egypt’s Great Pyramids. Read more from The Times of Israel.
