UGG boots were a classic 2000s fashion trend that was worn by everyone at that time. 20 years later, they’ve made a comeback.

2000s idols like Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, and Beyonce rocked UGGs all the time, and now, the newest generation of celebrities has taken over that fashion style. Celebs like Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa and even Cher have just been announced as the new faces of UGG’s SS22 campaign influencing many to pull out their UGGs from years ago.

While they’re usually seasonal shoes, students at Oak Park High School have been sporting them this past month.

“I feel like UGGs come and go, personally I love them. They’re so comfy and stylish at the same time,” junior Giovanna Bush said.

The “Tasman” UGG is an ankle-high boot that is similar to a slide but with a heel backing and patterned stitching. This style in the chestnut color has been the most popular among celebrities such as Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid

While UGG’s are super stylish and comfy, concerns arise about the use of real sheepskin in their products, especially when considering Peta’s claims that sheep are tortured and then skinned alive in order to make the boots.

According to UGG’s website page, Animal Welfare, they ensure that the sheepskin they use is a by-product of the food industry. UGG’s suppliers are required to follow the “Five Freedoms” before UGG accepts their livestock products. Those Five Freedoms are “Free from Discomfort, Free from Pain, Free from Distress, Free from Fear, and Free from Hunger”.

Regardless of issues surrounding animal cruelty, the brand is wildly successful; UGG increased sales by $28.1 million in its most recent quarter.

The UGG era is officially back and better than ever! With Black Friday around the corner, UGGs are going to be the staple piece in everyone’s closet!
