Spring Fling finally commences

A night full of fun, food and festivities

Oak Park High School’s “Spring Fling” dance took place on Saturday, March 25 from 7-10 p.m. Although initially scheduled for Feb. 24, it was moved a month later due to weather conditions. The dance featured an “out of this world” theme with taco trucks and dessert bars, and was hosted by OPHS Associated Student Body.

“The setup for the dance was a long but rewarding process,” said ASB President Jared Cornick.

A portion of the dance was also held at the lunch tables and featured retro Super Nintendo games on a projector as well as a photo booth with face cutouts. Students’ general opinion of the food was positive, like junior Tess Leong.

“The food’s great. It is a lot better than last year. 9.25/10,” Leong said.

Many people enjoyed the atmosphere and music, including sophomore Bri Blumm.

“It’s really fun, music is there, energy is there. The food was also so good, so good,” Blumm said.

Some students expressed disappointment in the low attendance.

“People need to start coming to these events like the dance,” said sophomore Mateo Nicolas.

The decor and set-up were a hit among students. The dance featured black curtains on the walls with dangling gold lights and planet cutouts hanging from the ceiling.

“I think they did great. The setup [was] great,” junior Katelyn Dimond said.
