What is TikTok’s newest star all about?

TikTok is a place for all sorts of education, sports, and entertainment–and a big part of that entertainment is watching a person’s “Get Ready With Me.” Although scrolling through the app to get different forms of entertainment is enjoyable, there’s something about hitting that follow button and becoming interested in the person behind the camera. Alix Earle seems to be this person for five million people. 

Earle is a Miami-based influencer and a current student at the University of Miami. She is best known for her makeup, fashion and lifestyle content. Countless influencers post similar content, which brings us to the question: What makes Alix Earle so unique? 

“She’s so open. She’s an influencer that doesn’t make me feel insecure while watching, and she helps her audience through [the] hard journey’s that she went through. Watching her “get ready with me” videos are so addicting because they’re edited well along with good outfits, makeup, and hair, but mainly because she’s so real with her audience,” senior Elizabeth Fawcett said. 

People are more fond of finding people they relate to rather than watching the content of someone they’re nothing like. However, Earle has mastered both sides, making her life an entertaining watch. Nobody wakes up at 5 a.m., goes to every class, and sleeps with a freshly washed face and no makeup on their skin. In her videos, Earle showcased her long and hard battle with her skin and body image. Earle’s room is messy, she’s dealt with heartbreak, and she skips many classes. She goes out and parties all night then comes home regretting just to do it again. Those are things the majority of us can relate to. On the other hand, Earle can afford to travel every month, is rich, has brand deals left and right, and has fame to her name. She found a way of being someone we see ourselves as and someone we can strive to be like in the future. 

On a recent trip with Tarte, Earle raked in $797,438 just by posting and advertising about the brand. She made four times the average American on one trip in a year. She majors in business marketing and puts that major to use by working smarter instead of harder. 

Many of Earle’s fans have spoken up about their first impressions meeting the influencer, and they have all said she is sweet and genuine, making her appeal as a person to work with to other influencers and brands.  She also works with well-known influencers such as Monet McMichael and Xandra Pohl and brands such as Rare Beauty, Rhode Skin, White Fox Boutique and Tarte. 

She now has her product working with AminoLean, a pre-workout energy drink called Berry Alixir. The day after the product was dropped, it was completely sold out. Although many energy drinks give you a refreshing boost, they also contain harmful chemicals and ingredients that can negatively affect your body in the long run. However, this collaboration made their drinks zero-sugar and low-calorie. It’s also pink, which is a fun and fresh color. 

“Alix provides a way to make me feel good about myself about the struggles of being a student while entertaining us with the many episodes of her life,” Fawcett said.
