With the 1,492 students at Oak Park High School, efficiency and accuracy are critical in the front office. Newly hired Blanca Elazary took the reins at the attendance desk. Whether it is processing excuse notes or communicating with parents, Elazary handles these day-to-day tasks to keep the school running swiftly and smoothly.
“I love working with staff and students,” Elazary said. “I’ve always loved working with the littles at the elementary school, but had no idea how amazing it was going to be working with high school kids.”
Coming from Oak Hills Elementary School as a math and literacy aide, Elazary understands that a nurturing and compassionate nature is exactly what is needed when working at a school. Already, she enjoys the atmosphere around the OPHS campus.
“I have two kids, one in middle school and the other in high school,” Elazary said. “I really feel I can relate to the students and staff around campus. I love the people and the high energy feel within the office space.”
With a hectic working environment, Elazary enjoys her downtime out of the office. When not focused on her children’s sports games, she loves to relax at the beach and get into a good book at home.
“I am definitely considered a homebody and love to cook if I have time,” Elazary said, “I feel right at home at OPHS and feel incredibly fortunate that my path has led me here.”
