The new year brings many things—resolutions, gym memberships and exciting opportunities for the entertainment industry. Last year was packed with famous album releases from artists like Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar, and hit movies like “Challengers” and “Dune: Part 2.” This year, many of our all time favorite shows, movie sequels and book series will be released. Here’s a list of exactly what to look forward to.
Movies:
“Captain America: Brave New World”
Another installation to the famous Marvel Universe comes out this year in February, and fans are excited to see a continuation of this storyline. The movie stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, and follows his experiences as Captain America.
“Wicked: For Good”
The release of Wicked was undoubtedly one for the books. Everything from the soundtrack to the actors was iconic, and it definitely exceeded many people’s expectations. Fans excitedly dressed up in Glinda and Elphaba costumes and many left the theater in tears. This second adapted part, also referred to as “Act 2” of the original play, will continue right where it left off, and we will once again see our favorite characters on screen. It will be released Nov. 21.
Music:
“The Weeknd: Hurry Up Tomorrow”
The Weeknd’s music is famous because you can listen to it anywhere at any time. Some of his most popular songs include “Starboy,” “Heartless,” and “Timeless.” His newest studio album is planned to release on Jan. 31, so make sure to stay tuned.
“Lana Del Rey: The Right Person Will Stay”
Over the past decade, this artist has been a favorite ever since the release of her successful debut single, “Video Games.” Last year, she released “Tough,” a collaboration with Quavo, which hit number 33 on the Billboard Hot 100. This year, she will release her latest album since 2023. Del Rey was planning on releasing another album called, “Lasso” last year, but much to fans’ disappointments, she didn’t. Still, this makes the release of her 10th studio release all the more exciting.
TV Shows:
“Stranger Things: Season 5”
The first four seasons of this show were truly unforgettable. Fans have grown attached to the characters they have been watching on the screens for almost a decade now, and while this finale season has been highly anticipated for the past few years, the ending leaves with it a bittersweet feeling; especially for the fans since 2016.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Season 2”
For fans that read the popular book series when they were younger, coming back to this show was a blast to the past. Although a specific release date has yet to be announced, the show is expected to be released in 2025.
Whatever form of media you enjoy, every industry will have something to look forward to this year. While these are the most popular of the bunch, don’t be afraid to branch out and try something less mainstream. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with going back to the basics.
