During the rampage of fires that plagued Southern California for around 24 days, many homes were destroyed and many people were displaced. In addition, firefighters and retired firefighters fought hard through the nights and days. With all this sadness and fear inflicted by these fires, Oak Park High School English teacher, Ms. Carter proposed an idea to her students to help the greater community, especially the brave firefighters. Her students did not disappoint.
When the firefighters received the donations, they were extremely grateful and felt appreciated. If you wish to help people in your community who are dealing with the fires, you can give financial support by donating to the California Community Foundation Wildfire Recovery Fund or the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation. You can also volunteer with Help Rebuild LA, an organization helping rebuild homes and offer assistance to people who have lost everything.
Also, after the fire, there were floods that plagued Los Angeles on Feb, 14, 2025. It is again evident that our community must band together to help each other during this tough season. If you would like to help people who have been inflicted by the floods, you can donate to one of many funds on Philanthropy CA. If you would like to volunteer, you can help with California Southern Baptist Convention or National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster. Anyway you help is appreciated and with everyone’s help we will preserve.
