This softball season has brought plenty of new players up to the varsity level, including Julia Katz. This season so far Katz’s stats are pretty impressive with 11 runs, 23 hits, a batting average of .460 and 23 assists. Her hard work has also made her athlete of the week and an avid leader on the team.
Katz is ranked top 110 in the state, 69 in the southern section and 16 in the whole division. Every game Katz plays, she plays with true determination and effort.
“I try to go to the gym most mornings before school, practice hitting and involve myself in something softball-related every day,” Katz said.
Katz has been playing travel ball since a very young age and aspires to continue playing high-level softball throughout college. This has been a dream of hers for as long as she can remember and she will do whatever it takes to make it happen
“My main goal for myself is to go Division I for softball in college,” Katz said.
Katz has always been very determined and that only grows as she advances in the sport. Katz plays infield on second base and is phenomenal at batting. Not only is she great on the field, but she is also very encouraging and helpful off the field.
“The team bonding is sometimes just as important as the game itself, you always want to form connections with teammates in order to perform better overall,” Katz said.
This team has proven to be very big on commitment and having a great attitude towards players. Katz emulates all it takes to be a successful athlete and will continue to do so in her following years at Oak Park.
