Oak Park High School’s girls tennis team is gearing up for their approaching 2025-2026 season. They were the Coastal Canyon League champions last year and made it to Division I CIF finals. Now, the players are preparing to continue their victory streak.
“I want to go undefeated this year, and I want to win League,” senior captain Sophia Selcer said. “I also want to have a deep CIF run.”

The team has undergone weeks of summer conditioning, starting as early as mid-June to prepare the incoming freshmen. Since the start of school, they have been training hard on and off the court. Official practices are generally at 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. from Monday to Thursday.
“We started practice right as school started. [Our] coach is really focusing on making sure that we’re fit. We’ve been conditioning every day,” Selcer said.
With new and returning players alike, the team has been upping their teamwork and forging new friendships. Though training is physically demanding, the camaraderie of the team more than makes up for it. The girls are just as focused on getting along as they are winning.
“I’m really looking forward to making a lot of new friends with the new people who just joined,” sophomore varsity player Grace Hu said. “I’m also looking forward to our first game and getting our uniforms.”
The girls tennis team swept their first game against Viewpoint High School 15-3. Come support them at their second home game on Aug. 26 against Newbury Park High School at 3:30 p.m.
