About midway through the new season, girls volleyball is finding its rhythm. The team has been working hard at practice to not only strengthen as individual players, but build a solid foundation for a winning team.
Their scores are a reflection of their hard work. As of Sept. 17, 2025, the girls have a 6-3 record and are 1-0 in league.
The girls welcomed a new head coach for the 2025-2026 school season.
“The new coach is definitely a positive change and has benefited the program for sure,” sophomore and setter Olivia Karatsonyi said.
Having a change in leadership can not only affect the outcomes of games, but also the dynamic among players. This new coach has had the opportunity to rebuild the team from scratch and hit the reset button since last season.
“He’s new to the school, so he is still figuring things out,” sophomore and outside Haley Litchauern said. “He is still warming up to us and we are warming up to him. Last year we had 19 girls on varsity and this year we only have 16, everyone is way more connected than last year.”
The team has also been working hard in their off season, giving it their all on and off the court. With the shift in coaches, there has also been a shift in mindsets, helping to improve athletes performance.
“We have all worked hard at connecting and being cohesive as a team, all with the same mindsets,” sophomore, middle blocker and opposite Eileen Dresel said.
This year, varsity is comprised of sophomores and juniors.
“We have around 10 sophomores and five juniors, so it’s good to be all connected and feel like a team,” Litchauern said.
With strong chemistry on the team, the 2025-2026 season is off to a strong start.
