Happy Monday, Oak Park. Here’s what you need to know to wrap-up your weekend and start your week:

Last Week: Drama department performs “Romeo and Juliet”

The drama department performed its play, Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” from Dec. 3 to Dec. 5 in the Pavilion.

 

This Week: Concerts and door decorating contest

There are four OPHS concerts this week.

The first performance of the week will be given by OPHS jazz and concert band in the Pavilion Tuesday, Dec. 8 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The wind ensemble and concert band will hold their winter performance in the Pavilion Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The jazz band along with the MCMS jazz band and choir will hold a joint concert in the Pavilion Thursday, Dec. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The choir will have a winter concert in the Pavilion Friday, Dec. 11 from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The deadline for the door decorating contest amongst third period classrooms is zero period Friday, Dec. 11. These doors will be judged by the administration based on their aesthetic appeal and adherence to the winter theme. The winning class will receive free hot chocolate and donuts.

 

Next Week: ComedySportz

The OPHS ComedySportz team will be having a game in the Pavilion Friday, Dec. 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Admission is $5 for students with an OPHS ID card and $7 for adults.

 

Beyond Oak Park: President Obama’s address

President Obama addressed the nation from the Oval Office Sunday Dec. 6 about the threat posed by the Islamic State. The President presented the government’s strategy towards combatting and eradicating this threat by suggesting prudent courses of action for Congress and citizens. Read more from The White House
