Last Week: Oak Park football victorious
Oak Park’s football team defeated Beverly Hills Friday, Aug. 26, in a 54-0 win. Quarterback Vincenzo Granatelli set a new school record with six touchdown passes in a single game.
Cross-country had its annual pancake race Sunday, Aug. 27. Sylvia Cruz-Albrecht came in first for the girls, Zach Sherin for the boys.
ComedySportz hosted workshops for students interested in trying out for the team.
This Week: Upcoming games
Girls’ tennis plays their first home game Aug. 29 against Malibu.
Girls’ golf plays in the Santa Ynez Tournament Monday, Aug. 29 and Royal Thursday, Sept. 1.
Girls’ volleyball plays their first home game Tuesday, Aug. 30 against St. Bonaventure.
Football has an away game at Desert High School in Edwards Air Force Base Friday, Sept. 2
Next Week: Homecoming tickets on sale
Tickets go on sale Monday, Sept. 6 for homecoming. Tickets are $40 without an ASB card and $25 with an ASB card.
Beyond Oak Park: VMA results announced
The results are out for MTV’s 2016 Video Music Awards, held in Manhattan Aug. 28. Beyonce performed several hits from her album “Lemonade” and earned eight awards overall. Among the winners were Twenty-One Pilots, Coldplay and Fifth Harmony. Read more from CNN.

- Hillary Clinton’s aide, Huma Abedin, announced her decision to divorce ex-congressman Anthony Weiner after the New York Post published evidence of his infidelity Aug. 28. The incriminating report brought to light the many “sexts” that Weiner sent to another woman while Abedin was away campaigning for Clinton. “Huma is making a very wise decision … she will be far better off without [Weiner],” Donald Trump said in response to the announcement.
