This week: winter sports begin

Varsity boys’ basketball has their first home game of the season Friday, Dec. 2 against Gahr at 7 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 2, the varsity girls’ basketball team is playing in a tournament at Viewpoint.

Boys’ soccer has their first game Monday, Nov. 28 against Fillmore at Fillmore. Frosh/soph will play at 3 p.m., junior varsity will play at 4:30 p.m. and varsity will play at 6 p.m. They have another away game on Friday, Dec. 2 against Thousand Oaks. Frosh/soph will play at 3 p.m., junior varsity will play at 4:30 p.m. and varsity will play at 6:15 p.m.

On Monday, Nov. 28 girls’ soccer plays Agoura at home. Frosh/soph will play at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity will play at 5:00 p.m. and varsity will play at 6:45 p.m. They have their second game on Tuesday, Nov. 29 against Canyon at home. The same times apply.

Next week: soccer and basketball games ensue

Girls’ soccer will play Santa Paula at home Tuesday, Dec. 6. Frosh/soph will play at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m.

On Wednesday, Dec. 7, boys’ soccer will play an away game at Santa Paula. Frosh/soph plays at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m. Junior varsity and varsity have games at home Friday, Dec. 9 against Malibu. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m.

Boys’ basketball will play in the Sierra Canyon Tournament Monday, Dec. 5 to Saturday, Dec. 10.

Girls’ basketball will play an away game against La Reina Monday, Dec. 5. Junior varsity plays at 5 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.

Beyond Oak Park: Ohio State University student attacks, injures 11 on campus

Abdul Artan, a student studying logistics management at Ohio State University, injured 11 students and faculty and staff members on campus today, Nov. 28. Six of those people were hit with Artan’s car at high speed, while the other five were attacked with a knife. Though all of the wounded are expected to survive, campus police officer Alan Horujko, 28, fatally shot Artan after he refused to drop his weapon. The FBI is currently investigating whether or not this attack is an act of terrorism on behalf of the Islamic State. Read more from the New York Times.
