Alex Labrecque will join the Marine Corps.

Life after high school can on average be defined by brick-walled university buildings and cavernous lecture halls.

But, senior Alex Labrecque, who junior Aidan Schnurr describes as “definitely patriotic,” has decided to divert from post-grad collegiate norms by joining the United States Marine Corps. Labrecque plans to serve his country by enlisting in the marines.

Why did you decide to go into the Marine Corps?

The military has always been a part of my life plan. If I’m gonna serve I want to choose the most elite and motivated branch.

Were there any specific experiences or people that helped you make that decision?

People that helped me make this decision was my dad instilling a deep love for this country.

What stood out to you about the Marine Corps?

The Marine Corps has the highest physical standards and out of all the recruiters that I’ve met the ones that seem the proudest to be a part of their branch were the Marines. I want to feel as proud as they do, develop myself physically and mentally, gain real-world experience and serve this country.

What are your plans after you enlist, both short term and long term?

I want to either go to college for either civil or mechanical engineering. If not, UTI [Universal Technical Institute] for automotive engineering. Long term [goals] would be either getting a job as an engineer at a company or opening up my own body shop along with getting married and having a family.

What’s one thing that you think separates you from the rest?

I don’t really feel like I’m separated from “the rest” I just really love this country and want to serve it in my own way.

What is your spirit fruit?

Pomegranate

Do you have any fun facts about yourself?

My car is so bomb that General Motors discontinued the brand that made it. I was [also] born in my current bedroom because I was too cool to be born in a hospital.
