Senior Clark Slajchert was chosen as the Athlete of the Week for the third week of January. Slajchert is on the Oak Park High School Boys’ Varsity Basketball team.

PE teacher and Boys’ Basketball coach Aaron Shaw selected Slajchert for his performance at the Rose City Maranatha Tournament competition.

“Clark lead our team to a 3rd place finish in the highly competitive Rose City Maranatha Tournament. Clark averaged 30 points and earned First Team All tournament,” Shaw said.

“It’s a pretty cool thing to be Athlete of the Week at OP, they always have hardworking and talented athletes so I’m honored to be among the group,” Slajchert said.

The University of Pennsylvania committed athlete shared how it felt to play at the Maranatha tournament.

“Playing at the Maranatha tournament was a lot of fun, there’s always great competition in Pasadena so we make the trip every year, although it would’ve been more fun to bring home a trophy,” Slajchert said.

Slajchert reflected on his time playing at OPHS, and what this team means to him.

“I love my teammates and coaches, it’s something I really enjoy being a part of every single day … I’ve learned a lot about what it means to lead. My teammates have made it easy so I’m thankful that I have been in this position all these years,” Slajchert said.
