Column: Sports Prediction Central, Edition 10

Predictions for the best games around the sports world this week

Welcome to the 10th edition of Sports Predictions Central, a column for predictions of the best games on the sports slate this week.

In this edition, we will be predicting and breaking down the outcomes of the following games: Warriors vs. Celtics, Dodgers vs. Padres and Suns vs. 76ers.

Warriors vs. Celtics, Saturday, April 17, 5:30 p.m.

Adam: Steph Curry has been on a tear of late, putting an otherwise-depleted team on his back. As good as Curry is, the well-rounded attack from Boston should be enough to stifle Curry and co.

Celtics 109, Warriors 101

Alex: In a well-matched game, the Celtics and the Warriors both look for a much needed win to improve their ranking amongst their respective conferences. I expect a huge performance from Curry, but ultimately I don’t see it as being enough to overpower the Celtics. I have the Celtics winning in a close one.

Celtics 112, Warriors 108

Eric: In a primetime game, I see this game being close throughout all four quarters. I expect star point-guard, Steph Curry to continue his streak of excellence. In the end, I see Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum being too much for Curry and the Warriors down the critical stretch of the fourth quarter.

Celtics 129, Warriors 118

Dodgers vs. Padres, Sunday, April 18, 1:10 p.m.

Adam: An interdivisional matchup between two of the best teams in the league, this should be a tight game that will likely go down to the wire. Both teams are loaded with talent. Ultimately, with fans back in the stands once again, I believe the Padres will defend their home field and pull out a slim victory.

Padres 6, Dodgers 5

Alex: In a highly anticipated division rivalry game, the Padres hope to improve upon their MLB credibility against the defending champs. After being eliminated by the Dodgers during the playoffs last year, the Padres will be playing with a chip on their shoulders and will come out swinging. The Padres will take the victory down the stretch.

Padres 7, Dodgers 4

Eric: The Dodgers currently have the best record in baseball. Their NL West foes are also playing well, so this should be a very entertaining series between recent rivals. Pitching should be a huge factor and I think the Dodgers have the advantage in that category.

Dodgers 6, Padres 2

Suns vs. 76ers, Wednesday, April 21, 4 p.m.

Adam: Neither of these teams were expected to be atop their respective conferences at this point in the season. But yet, here they are, in what should be one of the most anticipated matchups of the remaining season. Both teams are elite defensively, which should make it all the more compelling. Chris Paul and Devin Booker have been fantastic for the suns this year, as have Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris and MVP candidate Joel Embiid for the 76ers. Ultimately, I believe Embiid makes a bold statement in his case for MVP as the 76ers will win a tough, grind-it-out type of game.

76ers 101, Suns 95

Alex: Both the Suns and 76ers have been looking absolutely amazing as of recent and I expect a great game here. I’ve been high on the Suns recently, and look for them to continue their hot streak against the 76ers on Wednesday.

Suns 112, 76ers 102

Eric: Both teams are clicking on all cylinders this season and the standings show that. Devin Booker and Chris Paul have good chemistry and are poised to make a run in the playoffs. However, the starpower and supporting cast of the 76ers is very tough to beat and I think the 76ers pull out the win on Wednesday night.

76ers 120, Suns 113
