Supplies such as school materials, hygiene products among the top items requested

To help kids in the foster care system the Associated Student Body is hosting a supply drive to collect personal and academic related material sposted a StudentSquare post on March 10 addressing the upcoming charity event.

According to the post the drive will last two days and will be held on April 17-18 from 1- 4 p.m. ASB asks that all items donated be new and unused. Direct donations can be dropped off in front of the main office at Oak Park High School.

The donations will be “given to the James Storehouse organization, which mentors and provides for youth in our local area,” ASB senior class vice president David Shiang said.

ASB has held similar events in the past, including the Sparks of Love Toy drive which was held in December in collaboration with the Oak Park fire department.

“ASB seeks to make a difference throughout our school and community… Our campus has made positive contributions to Ventura County through these charity drives and we will continue to do so,” Shiang said.

Donations are to be placed in the donors corresponding class box to earn class points. ASB members are encouraging people to participate to boost their class’ standing while also helping underprivileged kids.

“We encourage everyone to participate! Every donation is greatly appreciated,” Shiang said.
