All across America, people are trying to help and support Ukraine as the country fights against the Russian invasion, a war that has left hundreds dead and thousands fleeing to other countries.

Voices of Children is a charity based in Ukraine that helps serve psychological needs for the children who are affected by the invasion. They specialize in art therapy and group/individual therapy sessions. Since 2015, their goal is to help children and families in need. Not only are they helping children in Ukraine with their psychological health now, but they’re also helping families evacuate. 

UNICEF is another organization that is helping during this time with health, nutrition, education, drinking water, and more. 

“Heavy weapons fire along the line of contact has already damaged critical water infrastructure and education facilities in recent days,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine M. Russell said. 

The London-based organization Save the Children helps to deliver aid to children in Ukraine and other places around the world. 

“We are gravely concerned for children in Ukraine, Afghanistan and around the world who might be caught in the middle of armed conflict, forced to flee their homes and exposed to injury, hunger, and sub-zero temperatures,” the organization wrote in a statement online.

PROTEST

There are many ways to help support Ukraine beyond donations. Showing your support by making signs and marching is a great deal of help. 

Rallies in support of Ukraine have been held around the world, including in Los Angeles and Santa Monica.

On Feb. 27, there was a march for Ukraine in Santa Monica at 2 p.m. with hundreds of people there to support Ukraine in their time of need. 

Keep an eye out for further rallies and join in to show your support.

SUPPORT SANCTIONS

Supporting companies and buying products from companies who have joined sanctions and who support Ukraine can also help a great deal. Companies like Microsoft, Google, SpaceX, and other technology companies are offering support to Ukraine by trying to prevent Russian state media from benefiting from a social platform. 

Consider not buying Russian-made goods. To show solidarity with the people of Ukraine, boycotting Russian-made goods and maybe finding/buying Ukrainian products would help. Some stores are even starting to remove Russian products from their shelves. 

Ukraine needs our help at this time, and these are just a few of the ways to do so.
