Following the retirement of Heidi Cissell, science teacher Anastasia Kokiousis is now the new director of ASB. As the new year starts, Kokiousis is very excited.

“I’ve been an ASB Class advisor for the past four years and I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of all the school activities,” Kokiousis said. “It is really fun to see students socializing and having fun outside the classroom.”

Kokousis getting the call to be the new ASB director, which is a step up from being the class advisor.

“When Ms. Smith asked me if taking the role as ASB director would be something I would be interested in, I said yes with excitement!” Kokiousis said.

Many responsibilities come with being the ASB director. These responsibilities include managing campus clubs and fundraisers, as well as organizing blood drives and food drives. In addition, Kokiousis is in charge of coordinating all rallies, senior activities and dances; these span from homecoming, to the spring dance and prom. Despite it all, Kokiousis is prepared.

“I’m used to being busy, so I’m not worried about the workload – but I will be drinking lots of coffee so I can continue to have lots of energy,” Kokiousis said.

According to Kokiousis, her transition to ASB director was smooth; she has since congratulated Cissell for her hard work.

“Ms. Cissell is amazing, and she deserves lots of praise because she worked hard to make this transition seamless,” Kokiousis said. “I also have a tremendous amount of support from Mr. Meskis, Ms. Smith, Mr. McClenahan and the rest of the school.”
