Photostory: Mock Trial Santa Barbara scrimmage

On Sunday, Jan. 29, 2024, Oak Park High School Mock Trial traveled to Santa Barbara for their final scrimmage. At the Santa Barbara Courthouse, both the OPHS Black and Gold teams competed against Dos Pueblos High School.

People v. Clark follows the trial of Tobie Clark, a man charged with the homicide of Kieran Sunshine. Sunshine was the chief executive officer at Sunshine Medical Components, Inc., the company in which Clark worked as in-house counsel. However, when fingerprints, footprints and other evidence are traced back to Clark, he becomes the case’s prime suspect.

“The scrimmage was really good practice,” senior Charlize Ocon said. “I think we’re in really good shape going into our competition next weekend.”

After months of preparation, the OPHS Mock Trial team will compete at the official Ventura County competition Feb. 3-4. If they win County, the team will go on to the state finals on March 17-19.
