There are few used book stores in the Conejo Valley area, and only one that exists underground.
The Book Cellar, located underneath the Agoura Library, offers many opportunities to buy good quality books for school or pleasure, for a decent price. There are various types of books for different readers to choose from, with a cozy and calming atmosphere to help you pick.
Junior Margaux Raymond is a regular at the bookstore.
“I really like going to the seller because everyone is respectful and extremely helpful,” Raymond said. “My mom has been going to the cellar for years and just started going there last year for school books.
Although the Book Cellar is underground, it is reasonably easy to access inside the library. To find the cellar, there are signs inside and outside the library showing you where to go. You can also ask the staff there to show you where it is.
“They have signs outside of the Agoura library saying where it is [and] there’s a super sweet woman and her husband,” Raymond said. “They run the entire thing. She knows where every book is and it’s really quick.”
The Book Cellar is open on Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. All the books there are second hand and donated by others. Anyone who has extra used books lying around that are in good condition, can donate to them as well.
“[The Book Cellar] was so much more accessible,” Raymond said. “I try to go to the cellar every other week to just see what they have. I love how many books there are. They also have textbooks there for college and it’s a really great place to go.”
