Ahead of Valentine’s day, students participated in a school fundraiser, where they completed surveys to find their romantic or platonic match. Every year, ASB distributes a personality survey called iFlurtz, which students fill out to be paired with classmates based on their responses. The survey analyzes personality traits, preferences and shared interests among students across campus.

Many students look forward to seeing their results. 

“I wanted to see my IFlurtz this year, because last year I forgot to fill out the form and didn’t get to see my results,” sophomore Tanvi Patil said. “Everyone else showed me theirs and it looked so cool.”

The survey is widely seen as a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day while supporting Oak Park High School.

“I feel like everyone’s talking about it,” freshman Mika Kim said. “It’s just fun to see who you get paired up with, even if you know them pretty well or if they’re just a random person, it’s just interesting.” 

For many students, iFlurtz is about curiosity: they want to see who they are matched with. Sometimes, the results lead to amusing coincidences when students are paired with friends.

“It was so cool, I got a couple of my friends on my iFlurtz,” sophomore Natalia Weisbaum said. “And my matches romantically were cool to look at.”

iFlurtz isn’t about finding the love of your life, but instead encouraging participation and community across all grade levels. 

“ASB’s main goal isn’t everyone finding their partner and being ‘happy every after,’ it’s  encouraging the Valentine’s Day spirit, creating excitement, raising money for our school and making everyone feel happy,” junior Katie Comparato said.

iFlurtz brings community, tradition and conversation to OPHS, and makes many feel included. 

“This is such a cool tradition that OPHS does, and it’s also one of the cheaper ones to participate in,” Natalia Weisbaum said.
