The Jack and Jill Flea Market is a vintage or Y2K event located in the parking lot of the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. It’s filled with pop up tents and a multitude of different vendors offering clothes, jewelry, accessories, tattoos, piercings and food and drinks. The event is held every month with varying dates, and vendors can sign up for each flea market, offering variety each time it takes place.
“The first time [I went] there were more clothes, and the second time there was more jewelry,” freshman Kaia Sitomer said.
I went to the Jack and Jill Flea Market in the Thousand Oaks Mall on their January tenth pop up with two of my friends. Craving a nice day together, we came across their Instagram account, and decided to check it out.
Transportation was easy; it was at most a fifteen minute drive from Oak Park. We were able to get into the lot fast, and we walked right into where all of the tents were set up.
Once we walked in, we were immediately met with a crowd of people milling around the racks of clothes and items. The vendors were organized into rows covering one of the large parking lots. Tattoos and piercings were close to the front, and food and drinks were to the side, with everyone else towards the middle. The layout made it easy for the crowd to spread out, and we managed our time by walking through the rows.
The clothing being sold varied by size, style and gender, although most centered around a vintage or 2000’s look. The clothes being sold were shocking, because unlike most thrift stores, they were all trending, as older fashion is cycling through again. The majority of the clothing ranged from a $10-30 range, with the pricing going up for jackets and jeans and lower for other items.

Most vendors took cash as their main form of payment, although they also had Venmo and PayPal. Very few of them took card payments, though food pop-ups did. If you’re feeling bold, especially towards the end of the day, you can negotiate prices for a lower bargain.
“I had this really nice interaction with this vendor who went to Oak Park, and we were just talking about it and I ended up buying something from the store. It felt like a really great sense of community,” sophomore Emily Hardy said.
I saw many name brands being sold for a lot lower than face value, with my first find of the day being a small coach purse that I snagged for $20.
“You should definitely go, because there’s a lot of good brands and antiques for a lot cheaper,” Sitomer said.
One downside on the day I went was the wind. It was blowing the whole time and was knocking things down left and right. If you go, make sure to check the weather first, and be adequately prepared.
The food venders were a whole ‘nother tale. They had a drink stand with matcha and tea, street hot dogs, food trucks and more. I tried the hot dog stand, which tasted phenomenal, followed by the drinks. I got a strawberry tea, and while I’ve definitely had better, the service was so good that it made up for it.

This was my first time attending the Jack and Jill flea market, and I was pleasantly surprised by the community it fostered. Everyone was laughing and browsing together, and all of the vendors were open to friendly conversation.
People milled around wanting to record the event and trying to spread publicity for the market.
“Everyone wanted to take photos of us, and wanted to document their little memories and little mementos of each moment,” sophomore Hadiah Hadari said.
I would rate this experience five out of five stars. For those who are interested in going, the next flea market is on April 4, 2026.
