Happy Monday, Oak Park. Here’s what you need to know to wrap up your weekend and begin your week:

 

This Week: Winter sports continue and The Talon

Boys’ basketball has an away game at Camarillo on Wednesday, Feb. 1. Frosh-soph will play at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m. They have a home game on Friday, Feb. 3 against Moorpark as well. For this game frosh-soph plays at 4 p.m., junior varsity at 5:30 p.m. and varsity at 7 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 1, girls’ basketball has a home game against Camarillo. They also have an away game against Moorpark on Friday, Feb. 3. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m.

Boys’ soccer plays Camarillo away on Wednesday, Feb. 1. They play Moorpark at home on Friday, Feb. 3 as well. For both days, frosh-soph plays at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m.

Next Week: Winter sports come to a close

Boys’ basketball will play Thursday, Feb. 9 away at Simi. Frosh-soph plays at 4:30 p.m., junior varsity at 6:00 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m.

Girls’ basketball will play Simi at home Thursday, Feb. 9. Junior varsity will play at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 8, boys’ soccer plays away at Simi. Frosh-soph plays at 3:30 p.m., junior varsity at 5 p.m. and varsity at 6:45 p.m.

Girls’ soccer plays Simi at home Wednesday, Feb. 8. The boys’ game times apply to them as well.

Beyond Oak Park: Trump bans immigrants from 7 countries, suspends refugee program

President Donald Trump banned roughly 218 million people from entering the United States Friday, Jan. 27. For at least the next 90 days, citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries will be denied access. In addition, admission of all refugees will be halted for the nest four months. Read more from CNN.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau stated Canada will welcome refugees barred from the U.S. Saturday, Jan. 28. Trudeau oversaw the arrival of over 39,000 Syrian refugees since he was elected, and intends to discuss immigration and refugee policy with President Trump when they next speak. According to a statement from the Pentagon, a US Navy SEAL was killed and three others were wounded in an operation against Al Qaeda in Yemen. Three supposed Al Qaeda leaders were killed in the raid. Read more from NBC News.
