From Friday Night Lights to cheer mini clinics to the fall rally, the Oak Park High School cheerleaders have been busy this year.
During the football games, OPHS cheerleaders had many cheers to perform on the sidelines along with on the field for halftime shows. They have put a lot of hard work into their dance routines for the halftime show.
“Our senior night dance is really special because it is our last time performing with our seniors. It really means a lot to me because these girls have been my role models since eighth grade,” junior cheerleader Taylor Tingzon said.
The team has gone through challenges together but always comes out stronger.
“Even though our team has had some ups and downs, we still come together in the end and we are like a family,” Tingzon said. “We always look on the positive side of things and when we do that definitely weighs out the negatives.”
The team has had many advancements this season and have learned many new skills.
“Our skills have advanced much further than last year and I think the crowd likes to see how exciting our program is and how we light up the track. So I think we did pretty good and I think others can say that as well,” Tingzon said.
After football season is over the cheerleaders will be cheering at basketball games and rallies.
“For the rest of the year I am looking forward to growing with my stunt group and just bonding and sharing these last moments with the seniors,” Tingzon said.
