After a long season of hard work and dedication, the Oak Park High School girls golf team won the league championship. The team has carried a good streak for five years staying undefeated and winning the league since 2019.
“We had a really strong season, especially since this was my senior year,” senior captain Madeleine Kim said. “Our team has been undefeated for the past five years, so I’ve never experienced a league loss.”
The girls worked hard to keep their title this season, winning a total of ten games and losing two.
“It was really encouraging to be able to continue our strong record,” Kim said.
The girls ended their season as league champions, and after winning against all the schools in their league, they advanced to play in a regional championship.
“We played CIF regionals a few weeks ago at Bear Valley Country Club in Victorville,” Kim said. “Our final title was League champions, and then we went to a regional competition with all the best D2 schools in the area.”
The team hopes to keep their record going for the next few years to come.
“I hope there’s some freshmen that come in that are better and we become a D1 team,” junior seed one player Nina Xu said.
With a good way to conclude the season the girls are looking forward to what is to come next season.
“I’m very satisfied with our performance this season,” Xu said. “I wish for improvement in the next season.”
