Oak Park High School girls lacrosse defeated Calabasas for the second time this season. The final score was 8-0 and it was the second win of the season. With six goals, captain Sophia Kieling led the team to victory. Freshman Angelika Braslavsky, junior Claire Murray and junior Emily Noy also scored a point each.
“I had one goal and one assist. I’m so proud of us. We’ve really come a long way from the start,” Noy said.
The game started slow in the first quarter but picked up by the second quarter when they scored their first point.
“I think we started a little slow, but we really worked together in the game, and we really had teamwork, great communication skills, and it all led to a win,” Kieling said.
After the first quarter, the referee talked to both sides about excessive fouls. Calabasas went on to receive another six yellow cards on their side throughout the rest of the game.
“We made a lot of good plays. My favorite part of the game was our first goal with Emily,” freshman Siena Kaski said.
Due to their strong defense and dependable attackers, the girls have been able to trust one another on the field and earn the win.
“I thought we all worked together really well, and we were able to stop them better than we stopped other teams,” Braslavsky said.
The team made appropriate adjustments throughout the game and were able to stay ahead.
“I’m really proud of how we advanced from the start of the game to the end of the game. We worked together and we all got that win together. We won together as a team, and as a family,” Kieling said.
